How many layers are in my Photoshop document?

How many layers are in my Photoshop document?

If you’re running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, finding out how many layers are in your Photoshop documents is easy.

Step 1 — Get info on the file in the Finder. Open up the More Info section, then select and copy all the layer names to the clipboard.
Step 2 — Open up a new TextEdit document and paste the layer names into the document.
Step 3 — Press Command-F to open the Find window.
Step 4 — Find “, ” (a comma and a space) and click Replace All. The light grey text above the Replace All button will let you know the number of layers, minus one, in your Photoshop document (minus one, because the last layer name doesn’t have a comma after it). This document has 509 layers.
There is one caveat: layers that have “, ” in their name will be counted twice. Who uses commas in their layer names though?
